Honor the Legacy
Inspired by the upcoming release of The Six Triple Eight on Netflix, we invite you to join us in celebrating the legacy of the courageous women of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. These pioneering women–the first army unit comprised entirely of women of color to serve overseas during World War II–ensured 17 million pieces of morale-boosting mail reached soldiers on the frontlines. Now, you can help carry their legacy forward by sending a heartfelt note of gratitude to service members deployed overseas.

How You Can Participate:
Write a message of gratitude and encouragement to a soldier, which will be printed on one of 2,000 limited-edition postcards inspired by The Six Triple Eight and included in Operation Gratitude Care Packages. Each postcard will be delivered to a service member overseas, honoring the legacy of support and connection started by the women of the 6888th Battalion.
How It Works:
From now until year’s end (or until all postcards are claimed), submit your message to be part of this unique tribute. Once all 2,000 postcards are filled, the submission box will close. But don’t worry—you can still support our troops by sending a letter directly through Operation Gratitude here.

Military Letter Writing Guidelines:
To ensure your message is meaningful and appropriate, please follow these guidelines:
Address your letter as “Dear Service Member.”
Please keep your message encouraging and positive: Suggested topics include expressing gratitude for their service, sharing hopeful messages, well wishes, and positive thoughts.
Share about yourself: Feel free to mention your family, hobbies, work, school, pets, or interests to help connect personally.
Please avoid excessive religious comments, scripture, or imagery.
Avoid mentioning distressing topics such as violence, injury, death or politics.
Refrain from including contact or identifying information for anyone under 18. If you are over 18, you may include your contact information, but please understand that replies may not always be possible due to time and location constraints.
